John Penny combines an eclectic background as composer, film sound designer, audio engineer, and guitarist to offer a unique performance of live Jazz guitar accompanied by a "Virtual Backing Band". With few barriers across genres, Jazz, R&B, and Afro-Cuban music are among influences behind this performance. Crafting 100s of soundscapes and music scores for film left this Jazz guitarist with tools to expand the possibilities for solo performance. Some good old uncharted, unaccompanied solo guitar playing and singing provides audiences with a look at the core artistry behind the building of the virtual bands.

With this performance, I am able to tell stories through my compositions themselves, then enhance the stories with a wide variety of virtual instrument arrangements for them. On top of that, I add the live element of guitar and voice for direct interaction.
